Fraudulent transactions on Barclaycard CC.

Hi,

Background: Spotted four fraudulent CC transactions when logging into account and viewing recent transactions online - (Barclaycard Goldfish) in early April just after my March statement. Immediately contacted Barclays filled out dispute form and sent back.

Transactions were for £655, ie £298, £10, £10, and £337. The £298 appears to have been reversed automatically. I recently received a letter saying the two £10 transactions were fraudulent and they have now been refunded.

This still leaves the £337. I’m still in discussions with Barclaycard over this, but it’s been a week since I last spoke to them and they were “looking into it”.

I’ve this week received the paper statement and the bill is due at the end of May.

I’m intending to pay off the entire balance minus the £337 transaction. I normally pay in full anyway. I’ve also stopped using this CC for now.

Is there a typical timescale within which this is resolved? If it’s not resolved by the end of this month, I suspect they will apply interest. Do I then have to jump through further hoops to get this interest refunded?

Does this sound right / should I be doing anything else?

It depends on the transaction and it's location and way it has been processed, the retailer is usually given 14 days to respond to the aquirier regarding the transaction and you need to add in the delay in Barclaycard contacting that particular aquirier and the delay in them sending the information.

Some transaction can be very easily spotted as common fraudulent ones, for instance CNP not verified etc.... but some could be CP ones which a voucher or reciept will be in existence for, so the research will naturally take longer and require copies of documents etc..

Any interest paid will be repaid to you, but normally the card issuer will suspend it for that transaction only.
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!

Apologies - yes the cards have been cancelled and I've been issued replacements, but I'm not using them just yet.

@hippey - thanks for the info.
