Childcare Question

we need to get some help with someone to look after our daughter for a few hours maybe in our garden every other day but the problem is as the house is still under renovation (and we are living in it) and we have no loo just a portatloo I wonder whether for 2/3 hours every other day this would put a childcarer off the idea of coming to our house or wanting to work for us. does anyone have any idea, I prefer to have our daughter at home rather than at someone's house as i can keep a bit of an eye on her. thanks in advance.

i doubt you would find a childminder who would look after children at your house, and only allow them in the garden? Its blimin cold and wet outside at the mo and i think most registered childminders, would have other kids in tow, and couldnt bring them along to your property

i think the only person you would find to do this type of childcare is a young, unqualified girl, and i think after a few days of being spied on and getting cold, they would soon leave

Is it not safe to allow your child into the house during the day? Or are you trying to work, and they would be in the way? depending on the age of the child, i think you are going to have to rejig your renovation plans, so that you only do work when they can either be left on their own in a room to amuse themselves, or if too young for that, you will have to do work when they are in bed, or out of the house, in proper daycare

I dont really thing there is any feasible solution to what you are asking. either have your child under your feet where you can keep an eye on them, or send them out of the house to a formal childcare facility

  • I would say you would be better looking at the childminders register your local authority has and contacting a local one to ask if they would be interested in child care a few hours each week, you will be amazed how many childminders don't take their full quota of children, and have this flexibility.

How about friends with children of the same age, perhaps you could do a swapping arrangement for going to one anothers house to play, if you can't reciprocate, perhaps you could take them to a local soft play venue as your part of the return favour.

got to be honest i dont think you will find that many childcarers would want only 2-3 hrs work every other day and in the back garden with it !!

im a childcare worker and it would have to be VERY good money to warrant staying in the garden all the time !!! lol

can you not make 1 room safe so she can be looked after indoors?
