Ebay rejecting password

Hi
A friend of mine tried to get on to ebay with his password, that he always uses. Ebay told him that his password was wrong and did he want to reset his password. He did this and tried to log in but ebay did not recognize his user name. So ebay reset his user name but when he tried to use it, ebay did not recognise it again.
Has anyone had problems like this? What should he do?
Thanks
Jackie

Sounds like his account is perhaps being accessed by someone other than himself. Maybe they changed passwords e.t.c-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

"oh no, not again". Reset his username? doesn't make sense.
Are they SURE they are dealing with ebay and not some phisher who has now got control of their account?0 -
Certainly does sound like a phishering attempt.Coming soon....0

I agree with the others 'Reset user name' doesn't sound like he is dealing with ebay at all, I think he may just have had his account hijacked.
If someone has the live help number I'm sure they'll post it here and it is probably worth giving ebay a call.

Thanks everyone. I have spoken to my friend again to find out exactly what happened. Here is what he says. I'll try to keep it short.
He tried to log on to Ebay with his usual user name and password.
It came back with Password Wrong.
He clicked onto Forgot Password, and was asked a security question, postcode, telephone number and DOB.
He was told to go to his messages. There he found a link but it was not live and he had to enter it manually.
Then it said enter your user name, which he did, and it said this is incorrect.
So he clicked on Forgot Username and it said it would send an email with the correct user name.
He received an email with the same user name that he has used all the time, he tried it again, but was again told that it was incorrect.
If anyone has a telephone number he would be most grateful.
Thanks

What's his username? We can see if his account is running any auctions, then.In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

He's in France?
He's not selling or bidding on anything right now. He should contact Ebay, though, as it sounds like someone's hijacked his account. It's only a matter of time before they start listing items. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

Hi
Yes, he is English but he is living in France. I think you are right, and he should contact ebay. Do you know the telephone number for the help line at ebay?
Thanks
