I got a wireless energy monitor from Eon last year. I don't think I saved a penny in electricity costs but I now know how much electricity every appliance in the house uses. It's on ebay now.

It's not mean't to save you money unless you want it to. People are far less likely to boil a kettle full of water for a cup of tea if they know how much they save by boiling a little or heating in the microwave. Leave your hair to dry naturally instead of blasting the hairdryer, put lids on your saucepans to heat your food. I think it saves money to those who want to save money and energy.
