Settled accoutn - why default??????

Hi,

After checking my credit report i have found that i have a default from Capital one! i had a credit card a few years ago, and there was an outstanding balance of £346 which i paid in full, so i was surprised to see a default, when it also states that its been settled!

is there anyway of having this removed? i would like to go for another mortgage this year and dont want this to affect my chances!

thanks

The default records the fact that you defaulted. The fact that you settled it doesn't erase your prior actions from history.

Suppose one applicant for a mortgage has never defaulted and another applicant has defaulted and later repaid the defaulted amount. Which one would you choose to give a mortgage to?
