Getting a Refund

Hi there,
I have about half an inch of standing water in my kitchen sink as the pipe has become blocked with grease (yeah, disgusting I know).
So, I bought some Domestos Sink and Pipe Unblocker, which claims to work 'in 15 minutes' 'even in standing water'.
I followed the instructions on what to do if you have standing water to the letter.
It recommends that I pour the product into the affected area and leave for between 15 and 35 minutes, during which time the blockage will be cleared and the standing water will drain.
I have now left the product for about 15 and a half hours and there is still the same amount of standing water.
I.E.- THE PRODUCT HAS NOT WORKED AT ALL!
I paid £3.99 for the product and I feel completely ripped off (money down the drain right?).... Where do I stand legally on trying to get a refund from these people?
*I still have the receipt and the empty bottle.
Many thanks.

Should be a number to call on the bottle, on Domestos bleach it says Questions, comments or suggestion call 0800 776645. Call them and ask if they offer refunds if you are not happy with the product.
How do you know grease is the cause of the problem?0 -
Just has a quick look a review on ciao

The reviewer mentions this
Basically the instructions say that if you have standing water in your sink you pour this into the sink and wait for the water to drain away. If like me it drains away but after an age they suggest that you pour the bottle into the plug hole and leave it for the desired time. The bottle claims that all bathroom blockages (hair and soap scum) are gone within 15 minutes, kitchen blockages (meat, fish and oil) are gone within 30 minutes and vegetables and pasta will take up to 2 hours. Seeing as I had no idea what I had blocked my sink up with I left it two hours and true to its word when I ran the tap it flowed straight away with no sign at all of a blockage.0 -

Yep, these are the promises that are made on the back of the bottle, but hey presto nothing has happened!!
I know it is grease because someone poured grease down my plughole on Wednesday night and that is when it became blocked.'I can't deny the British influence on my accent and mannerisms, but I don't know the British national anthem, I didn't weep for Princess Diana and I always cheer when Britain loses at sport. We had this problem, tried the product you mentioned plus others, to no avail.
In the end the other half undid the ubend thingy, stuck a hosepipe down the outpipe wotsit ( can you tell i'm very good with technical terms here ) and jetted a load of water down. problem solved.
And no need to pay for a plumber to fix it :j0 -
I used this a while ago when my sink was blocked, I poured it, left it for half an hour, came back and the water was still sat there. I left it a bit longer. Still did nothing. Eventually we took the U Bend off and there was a big chunk of fat, it looked like a block of cheese, there's no way anything could have made that go away. So maybe take the U Bend off and see what's blocking it? Think happy & you'll be happy

Yep, as per Hayley11, we had the same problem and solved it the same way too. No amount of bleach and/or boiling water poured down the plughole was going to shift the fat that was clogging it!It's wouldn't have not wouldn't of, shouldn't have not shouldn't of and couldn't have not couldn't of.
