Confused by paypal

I sell the occasional item on ebay, and have an unverified paypal account to collect payment. I have done this for over 2 years and it's never been a problem.

Recently I changed the email address linked to my paypal account. Today, I have just listed an item, everything OK as usual. But then I tried to list a second item and now it won't let me because my paypal account must be verified. Is this a new requirement? Will it hold up payment for my first listing if I get the account verified?

Hi I think I had to do this when I started, sorry I cant remember much about it apart from the fact that they put a couple of small amounts into my account and I had to confirm this I think. Hope someone else will come on here and clarify.
