Alternative to Homecare 400
Hi All
I’m currently having a torrid time with my home maintenance provider (ReactFast) who are a midland based group. Anyway I’ve cancelled my direct debit with them and am looking for a new supplier. I’m not keen on just living without any kind of maintenance agreement as I’ve had a few minor problems in the past, which seemed to make the agreement worthwhile. Plus with the imminent arrival of a new baby I don’t want to risk having a system go down or pay a fortune if something does go wrong.
So my question is, there are a number of organisations who provide this service. My initial feeling was to go down the British Gas route. I’m thinking of going for their top level cover (Homecare 400) which includes, boiler + yearly service, radiator, hot and cold pipes, drains, electrics and a few other things I can’t think of right now. They are charging £27 but with various discounts I can bring that down to about £22. Is there any reason I shouldn’t go with BG and go with someone else.
All I seem to be reading is negative comments and remarks and no one talks much about positive ones. So are there any companies that people highly recommend that I should look into.
Many thanks
Regards

There have been loads of threads on this subject, and an article by Martin.
As you say mixed reviews on BG, but all agree it is very expensive.
I have not seen anything from the other manufacturers that is much cheaper, even if available in your area.
Many schemes are simply 'cover' organisations that contact a local plumber they have on their books.
Even then I am not aware of a plan that covers everything like Homecare 400(boiler, CH system, drains and electrics)0
