Does anyone know if there is a free converter? I can only seem to find trial versions of ones which you have to buy for them to work properly.
Thanks in advance.

Maybe try this one called format factory, its worked on most of what I have used.

http://www.pcfreetime.com/? I located the file, opened it with format factory, but then I just get the format factory screen and no clues as to actually play the video. Am I doing something wrong? Many thanks for your help.

you need to open the converted file with a media player that can play .flv files. Your best bet would be VLC as will play pretty much anything and there are mac, pc, linux and other os versions

Only thing is, in converting the wmv to flv, the quality has significantly reduced. Is this normal? It's very blurry, and jumps quite a bit.0 -

Yes you do lose some quality as the file is smaller, you can check the settings before you convert to 640x480 size and that may make it better quality.
In answer to the flv player, maybe try sothink flv player, again freeware.
