We've promised our 9 year old daughter a treat for doing well at school, she's chosen rock climbing!! Anyone know of a centre in the midlands or north west? (We're in Staffordshire). TBH don't even know if it's allowed at this age?
Thanks, soba

Oh yes!
The Wolverhampton Science park has a newly opened rock climbing facility.
Yeah yeah, that's Wolverhampton to you ,come down the A449 and into the top of Wolverhampton and it is sign posted on the Left.
If you reach the Jag garage on the left you have gone toooo far and need to go back the way you came and it will be on the right.
Quite expensive £15 an hour + kit rental best phone first and double check.
Being a ex E1 free rock climber I say it is expensive because when you climb you get tired very quickly(typically 10 minute-20 minutes) and so don't get your monies worth.
If she likes it and you wanna get better value use Plas y Brenin climbing centre at Capel Curig on the A5 in Snowdonia,it is excellent.
My Boy loves every minute of it,but we do the real granite that is Tryfan.(Snowdonia)
Oooops OH has updated me apparently you have to have a safety lesson first(more money) and she thinks it is more than £15 per hour.0 -

My kids have used Awesome Walls in Liverpool (brilliant) https://www.awesomewalls.co.uk
and
Rope race in Marple

Great but not as good as Awesome Walls. My kids are 9 & 13 and have had great tuition at both.
Hope this helps.0 -
Thanks Piijt, that looks just the thing. Was intersted in trying the Wolverhampton venue, but Liverpool is easier for us to get to. Thanks again, soba.0

I'm in Staffs too. I've added those websites to my favourites. I've got 2 girls but I think they'd both like that.
ThanksSometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -

It's four years since my original post, but hey ho! Anyone been to the new Awesome Wall in Stoke yet? DD's no longer interested but DS is now eight so it might be a good time for him to have a go.0

Threr's also Upper Limits in Longnor, they do all sorts activities and have climbing wall and not far away at all! Took my daughter there couple years ago, keep intending to look into school holiday activities and courses so your post has given me a memory jog to have a look myself0

Hi bushie. We went to Upper Limits with DD and my nephew. It was a good morning and they both enjoyed it. The new Awesome Wall is closer for us though, just a quick trip up the D-road and we're there. Might try and get DS there over the Easter hols, also looking at Fenton Manor, it looks like they've got a few activities on there as well, including go-karting - that might be good!!0
