Friday 8/5/09 What small dfw things have you done today???

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free;)

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:D

Woo Hoo it's Friday and the weekend!!!!!!!
Great weekend for me ahead as get the keys tomorrow for new house to start moving stuff up there:j
Good morning lovely dfw'sjumping0044.gif, hi to all the regulars:hello::hello::hello:, and welcome on board to any new posters:D.

Busy day ahead at work ahead, then cooking tea for the oldies later too, before leaving to go and pick up some special chickens for a friend:D. When I get back tonight I will then be filling up my cr with essentials for first investigative trip to new house.:j

Sending huge Hugs to anyone feeling poorly or down, hope you feel better soon,

Today I will
  • check online banking
  • update spreadsheets
  • storecupboard lunch
  • cook tea for oldies and et for free

  • use lots of smilies to cheer me up
  • recycle something
  • one lot of laundry hokey cokey for OH
  • little bit of ironing for me
  • no housework to do all done:D
  • update blog
Think that's about it for today , have a great day everyone.:D

Anyway, hooray for Friday...even if it is sleepover here tonight;)

    Here's my list.....
    • scratchcard - 10p on L/W (50p bonus went into a separate pot:confused: and darn TAB 10p not in cash any more....meanies:p)
    • lunch made for work
    • NSD hopefully....just groceries, not much at all
    • charge phone at work
    • check banking.....goodness me, money actually went in from the ex:D:rolleyes:
    • check UCAS again:rotfl:
    • Dinner for 4 girlies from freezer - pizza, garlic bead, HM wedges
    • list DD's pink nintendo ds on ebay
I think I'll be spending the evening on here.....girls got 2 friends sleeping so will relegate myself to the PC in the dining room;)

    Morning all

Raging about this whole TAB scratchie thing! I had built up a bit then won on the bingo so my balance was £26 odd so I only withdrew £20 so I would get to my next withdrawl quicker with free scratches so now I will just have to play the money. Grrrrrrr:mad:

    Anyway today I have/will:
    • scratches- 10p (not counting TAB anymore!)
    • checked banking
    • heating off (house was like a freezer last night and I turned heating on when I went to bed and texted brothers to turn it off when they came in from work but they both went to stay at their gf's houses so heating was on all night. House was like sauna this morning!)
    • work for pennies
    • Up super early today- heat woke me so I got up and did some washing, put loads on the air dryers, emptied dishwasher and did general tidy before parents return
    • Doing a trip to dump on the way to collect my colleague to save fuel- our wheelie bin got hit by a truck and my dad refuses to buy a new one so all our rubbish has to go to the tip
    • NSD hopefully
    Have a great day everyone

Edit: Milly: I remember waiting for ages to hear from UCAS for my course- everyone else had got all their offers back and made their choices whereas I didn't hear until after all my exams were finished! Didn't stop me checking EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! Good luck!

Morning everyone (waves weakly, can't manage a star jump this morning!)

    Thank goodness it is Friday!

    Loads to do though:

    Check online banking (done)

See to animals and plants (getting there)

HM meals and lunch (leftovers) to work

Do lots of work to make up for not being in yesterday

Ring tax office re missing tax return - that was on my list earlier in the week but didn't get round to it

Phone friend who is having a tough time to see how she is

Try to clear loads of niggling things from diary before I start a big new study at work.

    That's me sorted then!

Have a nice holiday SM, and good luck to those still waiting to hear from UCAS.

Have a nice day everyone :hello:

    Morning all!

Milly - I know how you feel - UCAS/GTTR seem to take ages to do anything! I rang the university in the end and got them to tell me and then miraculously the next day the offers appeared on the web site - coincidence:confused:

    Today I will/have...
    • Had brekkie at home
    • Brought lunch AND drinks (for once!) to work
    • Having storecupboard tea
    • Done shopping list
    • Walk my dog for 1 hour and then Scooby the great Dane for about 40 mins (why can't they be friends, it would make life sooo much easier!)
    • Check banks - no movement there - good job cos there's no money there either! Roll on payday!
    • Do one load of washing and dry overnight
    • Do work expenses and get cheque from last lot back
    • Convince myself that we can live without a summer holiday and wait for the honeymoon (not convinced but money dictates!)
    • have a look at a short break inthe lakes in the summer (3 nights or so)
    • Did business survey that are now sending me a £20 Virgin wine voucher:T
    • Do some work - not very motivated anymore....
    • Get organised for work trip to Portugal next week - at least I'll be spending their money not mine when I'm there!
    • Stay in and watch soaps instead of going out
    • Give lovely OH a naughty cuddle for being so fab over the past few weeks when all I've talked about is university, teaching, interviews, hating work..... you get the picture! He's taking me out for a celebratory meal tomorrow evening - what a lovely lovely man!
    That's it for today...
    Have a good one!

    Morning All,

Grey and wet here in ‘sunny’ North Hampshire!

Sophiesmum – yay to getting new house keys! :j
Fay – LOL, you are so funny! :rotfl: Hope you feel better soon
Hugs to anyone who is down or unwell today :grouphug:

Lots to do today, I am going into town for a break from the house.

    So, I have/will:
    • Breakfast and dinner from stores – going to buy lunch in town and bring it home (French stick & ham is cheaper than a sandwich out)
    • Going to take starbucks up on their offer for a free drink
    • Called an agency regarding submitting my cv for a job outside Newbury (less money than I 'desired', but more hols and it is a 12 month contract, and I can drive from hubby's work (Newbury town centre to the locations, a village 12 miles outside)
    • Daily scratchcard on TAB – 10p
    • Must buy lottery tickets for tonight (I know that I might not win, but there is a chance that I do win…..goes off looking at stately homes to buy in the surrounding areas)
    • Continue with 101 plan (take meds for PCOS, eat healthily and line 40)
    • Walk into town to save money (and will help with the plan)
    • Eat sensibly as I have to fit into a suit next week as I have an interview! :D , but it would be a major step up, so I am not too sure I will get it (and I have spent the past month living in jogging bottoms)
    • Look at local papers in the library (saves me buying them)
    • Enter comps online
    • Read yesterday’s posts after I logged off

    Think that is about it.

    Have a great day everyone

:rotfl::rotfl:If my ironing waved gladioli at me I'd be quite happy! (let you in on a secret - said "Etna" as got fed up trying to spell Kilimanjaroo!!)

Poor you with bad chest - keep steaming your head!!

Piglet being ok apart from having complete wobbly whilst I was on phone to tax credits people! Oh and I looked a right pleb this morning....got his weetabix off high shelf in cupboard and had one of those arms waving screaming moments when I thought a spider dropped on my head. Turned out to be a rice crispie. SO glad no-one saw me!!!!!!
