Tesco don't accept the Visa Electron online but everyone else does. If you shop at Tesco then get yourself a Cashcard Plus Pre-paid card and transfer money onto that for your shopping.

I've lost count of the number of times I've seen on here that Natwest will not entertain bankrupts in any way, shape or form.
This has come as a surprise to me as my OH and I have a Natwest basic account, opened just prior to becoming bankrupt and still going strong 18 months later! We have also opened a saings account for our son with my wife as trustee POST bankruptcy with them.
When we opened the account we were asked why we were opening such a basic account and we quite openly told them that we would be declaring bankruptcy 2 weeks later. The woman we were dealing with said something like "Oh, that would explain it", made a quick phone call and told us there was no problem
Guess we were just the lucky ones. When you're going through hell, keep going! You will get to the other side eventually.

Unfortunatly we have seen on the board loads of people have their accounts closed by Natwest, even if they were told that the account wouldn't be. Some people have managed to keep their basic accounts but they are the exception rather than the rule. I just wouldn't want to risk it.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Tis true - often front line staff say it's absolutely fine, then Head Office closes it down - there is very little consistency, hence Co-op and Barclays being the ones most often mentioned as 'safe'.Get free advice before embarking on bankruptcy: CCCS 0800 138 1111 National Debtline 0808 808 4000
