I see what you are saying linda , but they don't make this dress from stock, I have gotten the photo from another website & emailed it to them so they will custom make it for me. I'm a larger size & as I said I want it in lilac so I'd be surprised if they just happen to have that dress in lilac in a size 20 hanging about in the stock room, so I will know straight away if the photos are of another dress.
Unlike a lot of the others milly photos are of dresses they have made, not the designers photo's.
What do you think of this info from their website . I'm no expert so I value your opinion.
ETA - I'm comfortable paying the higher costs only partly because of the picture thing , it's also the whole experience thing too the communications I've had from milly have been really good, whearas with landy, well they were ok but not as good. I have seen a few landy dresses with similar skirts where I would have been a wee bit dissapointed if I'd received them. They were gorgeous dresses just the skirt material seemed a bit thin.

Looks good, no different to what I would do. My only slight chuckle is the hand stitching the beads. I hand stitched over 5,000 beads on a dress once. Time consuming is a massive understatement!!! Most beaded fabrics come already beaded and where they are cut for the bodice, some do fall off. This is the only time someone would thread up a needle and replace thoses stray beads. Using the horsehair braid enables the lining to be attached to the fabric providing a neat hem with no visible stitching.
Interlining or stay tape keeps the neckline firm and in shape.

What I would suggest to them is if they can add waist stays. Because your gown is strapless, the weight of the skirt can sometimes "drag" the dress down. The waist stays are basically like an inner belt which keeps the skirt at the waist. Because I always build my petticoats into a dress, I always use waist stays. If you are wearing a strapless bra sometimes bra "carriers" can be stitched inside to add to the feeling of security. I've just used this teqnique in a prom dress.

It is true that many of the "cheaper" gowns only have the fabric and lining. This is the reason they are budget because less fabrics are used and it keeps the cost down.

The only way you can tell if these pointers from Milly's work are true is if you turn the dress inside out and check the inside to see if there are 4 layers used. But heck, if you feel a million in it, does it matter?

To be honest, I have several patterns that I can take the bodice from one and add the skirt of another. Apart from the tulle drape, I would imagine they will use this method too. There is nothing wrong in what they are saying to you. They want you to be confident in their product because of it's importance and so as a dressmaker myself, I totally understand that. Customer satisfaction at it's highest.
    Hope this has helped.

No, it's nothing like hem-it or bondaweb. It's quite nylony like a very stiff but sheer ribbon.

Dont worry! I am sure it will be great when it arrives. I think that the dress looks fine in the second photo it is dodgy haired/cheesy grin/weird background which make it look different. Hopefully you should get some actual pics from Milly soon to reassure you.

My ebay/China bridesmaid dresses arrived yesterday and I had a bit of a panic when I got them out of the bag. They were all screwed up and not the colour that I was expecting. Got a bit stressed about it but hung them up and had a look when I woke up this morning and they are looking much better now I am more used to them! Plus I think that they will look so much better on the actual bridesmaids.

I am sure that you will look beautiful. Much better than cheesy grin face ;)

HI there, I have spent all day haveing dress wobbles aswell!! I went to the bridal shop and thay have said my dress would be £750!!! We totally can't afford that, but I have been stressing that the fabric won't be any good, or the dress will be completely different. My understanding OH has now said that I should order from Milly, which I was going to do in the first place but then decided to go with Landy because it is much cheaper. So now I am going with Milly agan so I can see the pictures as they go along. Maybe it is ridiculous paying extra for pictures, but it will deifnitely help with my wobbles and I don't want any other dress at all lol!! It i so true when they say you will know when you have found THE dress lol, Tiger xx

So glad it's not just me, we have saved so much money in other way's and we are having a wedding exactly as we want, nothing extravagant, and this is the dress I wan't but I want it just right. hell even at the milly price which with shiping & a bolero will be £260 , that's a lot for me to spend but it's still a good price for a wedding dress.
I have looked at other dresses but I just can't find 1 I like as much as this. I'm sure we are doing the right thing.
I wonder how sunshinejoclaire is doing, sure it's just last minute panic.
