Debt Collector for UKPC

http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/lh/photo/coFby2M0IG6T0LD9nKuwnw?feat=directlink

I have received this letter from them. Basically a "invoice" was sent few weeks ago. As well as reminders. This was from UKPC. The car was literally left for a few minutes. It seems the best advice was to ignore all correspondence from UKPC as they aren't the council nor police, just a private company. Do I need to respond to this letter (debt collector) stating as the Vehicle owner i am not bound by law to state who was the driver at the time or just ignore it. Obviously I do not want them to come over and harass me or anyone in my family.

Your help will be greatly appreciated. :)

Just ignore it. "Debt collectors" are nobodies with no power whatsoever. The debt is a figment of their imagination (and so is the 20% they are threatening to add on). It's pure fantasy.

It's only a real debt if a court says it is, and that means a court hearing taking place at which you are given a chance to defend. (And trust me, they won't sue).

This is a mail-based scam. They hope their letters will frighten you into paying. They won't send anyone to your house, but in the incredibly unlikely event that they do, they have no more rights than a door-to-door clothes peg seller - so just tell them to scarper or you'll call the cops.

(I love the way they say "we will take firm action to recover this debt in accordance with the law" - gotta love the way they've underlined and emboldened the "firm" :rotfl:What a bunch of plonkers!!!)
