Trying to find a Golden Retriever Rescue Dog

I have read some posts on this forum previously, but I am just wondering if anyone can suggest where I can adopt a golden retriever? I have contacted Many Tears who have 2 but the 1 is reserved, and the other is unsuitable for children [I have a 9 year old].
I lost my cocker spaniel last November and am missing her so much that i'm going to have to have another dog. I was going to have the same breed but don't think that I could do it. So the other dog I've considered is a golden retriever - something totally different!
If anyone knows of where I could get in touch with and get home checked I would be really grateful.
Have found the Irish Retriever site but they don't seem to have any at the mo!

Thanks everyone for all of your replies - I will certainly try and use the sites to find a dog. Will keep my fingers crossed that I will find one :T0

of course you will, if you are prepared to hunt around and have a little patience - the right dog may not be out there this week, but sadly new dogs are coming into rescue very rapidly at the moment, due to the financial climate, so have patience and I am sure your dog will arrive!!0 -
