Street parking at Gatwick

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to park for free anywhere near Gatwick (say 2 miles) and walk to the airport? Having to do a weekly commute from Gatwick and am trying to cut costs on the weekly parking. I see there are a lot of residential roads within a couple of miles of Gatwick but guess there must be parking restrictions.

Wouldn't recommend it unless you can stay at a friend's place and have them watch your car. I know someone who lived near Manchester Airport and all the neighbours would call the council parking enforcement team when they saw an unknown car for more than a few hours. If the cars weren't ticketed/clamped they would usually end up with a flat tyre or two People are very mindful of this.

If you're willing to risk it though, the parking restrictions should be clearly posted. Even in London there are still some areas that have residential streets with no restrictions at all (i.e. parking permits).

Thanks. Certainly don't want to cause any residents a problem and definitely wouldn't park outside someone's house. Just hoped there may be some roads nearby that are not near houses.

I think from memory the approaches to Gatwick are dual carriageways so are not great for walking. You could maybe get an bus transfer

Anyone know if it's possible to street park in say Horley or Crawley for a few days?

Just spotted your request; no problem AP - I am sending you a PM. I regularly fly from Gatwick and thanks to MSE I haven't had to pay for parking for Gatwick for 3 years, leaving my car for between 1 and 4 weeks at a time, never had a problem. CB2

I was thinking the same thing -parking somewhere near for free..Is it possible? TIA
P.S. my DH thinks I switch too much on the saving frequency....Am I??
