Cheap Brita water filters

Is there anywhere that I can get Cheaper BRITA water filter cartridges?
Are the cheaper alternatives any good?
Is it worthwhile getting a filter connected to the main supply?
Any help would be appreciated.

I have tried using the cheaper alternatives but imo they don't last anywhere near as long as the Brita filters do so false economy.

We bought a new filter jug which had 13 filters ( a years supply and one in the jug already) in with it from Robert Dyas if thats any help.

Sorry, can't help with a built in filter :)

Hi Square Bear.....Not sure if sterilising in the microwave will help. But I do this myself every so often and not bought one for months. Have seen them mentioned on this site for £1.49, some weeks ago.
