Recurring email every couple of minutes

I opened an email from a friend this morning and it seemed to be perfectly innocent. However, I have received the same email every few minutes throughout the day and the only way I seem to be able to get rid of them is by deleting. Can someone throw any light on this and what I can do to stop it.

Have you checked that your friend isn't somehow sending it multiple times?

Sounds like a problem I've seen before - some kind of corrupted mailbox (their end)
Basically when I saw it, the email was sending, but not showing up as sent, and not leaving the outbox. If these symptoms match, a quick google should identify the bit they need to delete (which will then be reinstated, assuming OE, / Outlook) on restart.

I've had this when an Antivirus program hangs up during a scan. To solve it, you can switch off the antivirus program, click send and receive, wait for the messages to all arrive, the switch the antivirus back on.

Be careful about what comes into the mailbox, because viruses could arrive as the antivirus was off! Delete anything looking slightly suspicious.
