Ex-Girlfriend is on the tenancy contract

My girfriend at the time moved into my rented accomadation. This was through an agent, so she had to apply to them stating she was living there!

On a renewal of another 6 months, the contract came back in both our name s which we signed and sent back!

Now she has left me, and i now have to fork out the full rent for the next 5 months.

Can i take legal action against her and claim half the rent of her?

Thanks

It sounds as though it is a joint tenancy agreement, in which case you are 'jointly and severally liable', meaning that if one tenant moves out the landlord can lawfully demand that the remaining tenant(s) make up the shortfall.

You need to check through the details of your contract to be sure.
