My other half has an iva that is due to finish (we hope) Dec this year, i have a mortgage on my flat, he has no other ties than the iva, we want to move as we have a young child and want another one in the next year or so, however i am concerned that we wont be able to get a mortgage together, as with both our wages we should be able to borrow a lot more money! What are the options for this??

Not wishing to be all doom and gloom but I think you will find it hard to get a good rate. I did a F&F IVA which completed over a year ago. I have plenty of equity in the house but most of the high street lenders want you IVA to be completed at least 3 years before they will touch you. I managed to get a mortgage with HSBC in the end but most of the brokers I went to were coming up with 8-13%.

It is not entirely impossible to get a Mortgage with an IVA that is due to be resolved. The rates you will have to pay may be a lot higher. I could have a quick look for you to see if there are any lenders that would accept this. Send me a PM if you like.

hi charlie we completed our iva and got a remortgage with skipton five years ago it was a bit a long slog you could try them never going down the iva road again soul destroying hope it works outxx
  • I managed to get a mortgage after my IVA was completed. I used Mortgage Talk and highly recommend them, i got my mortgage 2.5 years ago so i don't know what it will be like now but it's worth a try.

    Good Luck
