For bread due to go out of date say on the following date, is it safe to buy bulk and then freeze at home,.Take them out one at time and consumed on the same i.e. day of defrosting?cheqmate06 wrote: »I work in one of the tescos and carry out reductions. Our stores policy is to reduce all items that are due to go out of date that date by 50% at 3pm and 80% at 6pm(store closes at 7pm). If there is lots of same item we would reduce to poss 90% at 6pm.
Hope this helps0 -
Perfectly safe to do so. I do it all the time and I don't eat it all on the day I defrost it. Sometimes it takes me a few days to eat after defrosting. Never had any problem.naijapower wrote: »For bread due to go out of date say on the following date, is it safe to buy bulk and then freeze at home,.Take them out one at time and consumed on the same i.e. day of defrosting?
Just because it's near or past its 'sell by' date doesn't mean it's unfit to eat.0 -

people eat 38p bread?!
No I eat 10p bread :rotfl:
I will leave you to work that one out.
And what right have you got to judge. According to the paper sales of white bread have gone up by 16% in the last year. As it is a way to cut back on food expenses.

I agree with you.no noone eats it, tesco/asda just put it for sale and no one buys it, so asda/tesco just continue to do this. some people are very judgemental.
i freeze cheaper breads and use them for toast, yum.
I don't know what all the fuss about bread is. I eat cheap Asda, Tesco & Lidl white bread. I also eat Allinsons and the like at £1 a go. I can't tell the difference between the cheap ones and the rest.
I also buy brown bread, usually at Asda when it's reduced from around £1 a loaf to 10p. It does taste good, but for toasting, white bread suits me best.0 -
The 38p white bread makes brilliant toast. I got some Warburtons white for 10p (usually more expensive than 38p) and toasted that and we preferred the 38p bread for toastingpeople eat 38p bread?!
I tend to make my own brown bread or stock up at discount times. An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T
