ipod touch questions (from newbie)

My wife has indicated that she may like an "ipod touch" for her birthday, so consequently I have some very simple questions I would be grateful if someone could take the trouble to answer.
1. The things she mostly wants to do is (a) listen to music, (b) watch telly programs and podcasts in her lunch hour (typically downloaded off BBC/ITV/Sky) and (c) have a few basic games. She is not interested in using the device as a telephone. Is the ipod touch OK for this?
2. She has a large CD collection and many MP3s - can these be transfered onto the ipod without incurring extra charge?
3. Most importantly, are there any extra costs with using the device after purchase - do you have to subscribe to services? I see that games cost a nominal amount.
4. I have Sky broadband, with a wireless router - can she connect to this if sat at home, then access her email as well as surf the web, again for no extra charge (i.e. as if it was a normal laptop accessing the web).
5. I see they do 8, 16 and 32 GB versions. How many hours of telly would fill the 16GB version?
6. Is there anything else I should be asking?
As you can see, I have little knowledge about these devices, apart from what I have seen on telly and a few web pages which seem to give fairly one sided reviews, so all advice appreciated.

1. Yes, I'd say it was spot on
2. Yes - for all of the features, it is still primarily a media player
3. Apps/Games can be bought for fairly small amounts (a number of free ones exist too though how good/useful they are is wholly variable). Subscriptions are not necessary
4. Yes, the iPod Touch has wi-fi. If your home wi-fi is secured, you will need to fill in the relevant security settings (passwords/encryption)
5. Depends on your compression, but as a rough guide, a 30 min show is about 250MB so about 400-450 hrs I reckon, though someone else might know better"Who throws a shoe, honestly?"

the ipod touch cannot make phone calls as standard (unless you get the skype app & a microphone).0 -
Thanks both.
Did not realise that Skype was available for it - she does spend a fair amount of time on the PC (mine, meaning I cannot surf) yakking away, so that would be a bonus.
I think my questions have been answered nicely, so the only issue now is to find somewhere cheap to buy one and remember where my credit card is!
A final question - do ipod touches have any cameras on them?0 -
Nay, they don't have cameras0

I *think* I remember reading a rumour that it's possible the next generation iPod Touch (to be released in the next few months) might have a camera.
Don't quote me on it though!
