Documents and recent items query!

Basically my laptop had been crashing for ages and Dell yesterday 'took over my PC' to fix it.
Was quite amusing as my desktop is of a scantily dressed lady so he made it plain blue. :rotfl:
Anyway, since he did whatever he did, all my Office documents have .docx on the end of them and not all files are listed under my recent items after opening them which is really frustrating as I'm constantly using half a dozen or so of them.
I'm using Vista, and not sure why it's happening.
Any advice would be great, thanks.

.docx is the filetype for the latest Microsoft Office suite.
As for recent items... The files are usually stored in "Documents" folder, or in your "My Documents" folder, you'll have to go hunting for them...Laters

Sorry mate, yeah I know where they are. I just mean for convenience, some are appearing in recent items after opening them, others aren't! :undecided0 -
It takes a while for them to pop-up in the recent items unless the tech guy dropped the number if items shown in the recent items list....Laters

Well it still isn't working for some files (ie the ones I use the most).
I've cleared the list, opened 3 files (2 word, 1 excel) and only the last word document is in the recent files list! :undecided0 -
Have you checked the number of recent items it's set to display? Tech guy may have changed it
. (To check, go to Start properties, then Customize, and you'll see a drop-down box). I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

It was 9, changed it to 10. Tried again. Lists some documents (currently only 4 in there). The 2 or 3 I used everyday still won't appear.
