Item out of date - what feedback should i leave?

Hi peeps, after some quick advice re an ebay purchase and wondered if anyone would know.
I bought some beauty products (hair removal cream) and they just arrived and the 'use by' date on them is April 2007! They are cream based and they stink so i'm not sure if they are meant to smell like that or they have gone bad. The listing did not mention that they were out of date and I would not have bought them if i'd known. So i don't know what kind of feedback to leave. I have never left neutral/negative feedback before so i feel kind of guilty/reluctant to do so but I want to leave a neutral now saying their listing didn't mention the use by date so others can see it. Is it ok to do this or am i supposed to have contacted contacted the seller first?
Thanks for any help
Ps, they are a shop, not an individual seller and they have lots more of the same product for sale.

I would first contact the seller stating that the products were out of date and that you want a full refund. If they refund fully without any fuss I would leave positive saying 'problem sorted out effeciently'. If they refuse to refund I would leave a negative saying 'products out of date by 2 years and are unusable'.0

I think you should contact the seller first pointing out the problem. They probably haven't realised it is out of date (I know sometimes these dates are very small). You will find if they are a good seller they will sort out the problem (not at your expense). If not then you can leave the feedback you feel they deserve.0

Contact the seller first.
Personally I find depilatory creams reek anyway... try asking someone who has used them before? My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I'd agree, those creams smell TERRIBLE even the 'unscented' ones.
i'd agree, contact the seller first, they may be pleased that you have let them know.2 angels in heaven :A0 -
Contact seller for full refund - if not forthcomming then its a neg.
Why do you feel guilty about upsetting someone that ripped you off ?0 -
Hair removal creams do smell rather bad. The only way i can describe it is the smell of sick and perfume. and its one of those smells that takes a few washes to remove.
I stick to razors now!0 -
I'd leave a negative but maybe I'm just being mean. Give them a chance to explain themselves I guess.:A | -1lb | :A0

I believe in giving someone the benefit of the doubt first. Not every seller is trying to rip someone off. Buyers have to mark for communication. Shame there isn't a star rating system for sellers to mark on, as the last couple of posters would get a big fat zero for communication!0
