Is this normal? - NOT that I am complaining!

I got my Aqua card on 27th February 2009. My initial credit limit was £350. I just went into online account servicing and notice that they've just raised the credit limit to £850, without notifying me and without me asking. Is this normal for them? I'm quite thrilled actually, lol:j

That is quite normal, but you do have to keep an eye on them. Goldfish raised my credit card limit to £12,000 which is ridiculous as that is half my gross income for a year!

That's kinda crazy. Did you spend a lot on the card?

Don't forget that you will have to pay it all back. And the more you borrow, the more interest you will pay. So it is not surprising that they put your limit up as high as they dare: your temptation equals their profit.

aqua tend to stop at £2500 but they have been known to go higher. I guess it depends but tbh you wouldn't want a £10k limit as their apr is way too high to warrant it!

  • Initial limit is just what they might give you at the start, doesn't mean they'd stop there once you're established, I'd imagine...
