Had a burst pipe Feb, lots of water damage
Loss adjuster has agreed the damages but no work has been done yet. Should I be worried?
Also, Power Play is providing all the gadgets(tv,dvd recorders, computer) but are giving the cheapest possible replacements
Should I go along with this or wait for the insurance co to replace.Such a mind field

Who is the contractor - did you pick them or did Churchill. If it was them then get onto the claims office and the loss adjuster and ask what on earth is going on! How long ago was work authorised though?

It is the replacement good's supplier's job to provide the cheapest replacement - what exactly is the problem you have? You are entitled to a new for old replacement of equivolent standard, so if you had a cheap grey brand DVD player from Tesco or Woolies before, then you can't expect a top spec one to replace it. If you feel the items they are offering are not of a good enough standard, tell them and make clear what you do expect.
