Do Gas/Elec Co's hike new customer rates.

Options
Are new customers are being attracted with artificial tariffs which are then increased, claiming that you are no longer a new customer ?
- there are 2 rates for the same tariff name ....

npower:
9th December 2005 my supply started:
- Save On-Line rates of 13.52 & 5.96p.
1st January my On-Line rates increased:
- to 15.53 & 7.1p
(an increase of 14.87% & 19.13% respectively)
- yet advertised Save On-Line rates were 13.96 & 6.11p
(an increase of only 3.25% & 2.52% respectively)

How do the price comparisons work? It all seems a con.

There are a number of different npower Sign Online Tariffs. Seems to me like you're on tariff 3. Tariff 4 which was introduced mid February is the current rate for new customers. Tariff 3 rates are rising again end of March.

Although there is no charge for switching to a different supplier, you will no doubt be staying in anticipation of your £60 rebate after 12 months.

It does seem that npower are deliberately luring people into switching with low rates which will inevitably rise.
