The wonderful and free OpenOffice package has just been updated to version 3.1
The new version adds a handful of features and a quite a few bugfixes. If you haven't used the package before then check it out. If you have, then update to the latest version.

Tried to get OO 3.0 on my Ubuntu 8.10 machine last night (had to drop from 9.04 because of graphics card problems). None of the online howto guides would work

I've done it on at least 6 different systems with 8.10 using this method - all are now running 9.04.mr_fishbulb wrote: »Tried to get OO 3.0 on my Ubuntu 8.10 machine last night (had to drop from 9.04 because of graphics card problems). None of the online howto guides would work

That's the method which worked when I originally had 8.10.I've done it on at least 6 different systems with 8.10 using this method - all are now running 9.04.
Then I upgraded to 9.04, had problems with the graphics so decided to go back to 8.10. I wiped the machine, installed 8.10 and now that method doesn't work. It doesn't list OO 3 in the updates.
