Has anyone got a way of disabling the roaming profile in xp or is there a free tool that will manage this type of thing?
Have a friend using xp pro who has had a problem with it being full and it won't allow log off until it has been reduced.

I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.

Presumably the system is normally connected to a domain network, and hence is trying to resync the profile/docs back? If he's not on a domain, then needs to switch XP to being on a local Workgroup without a roaming profile...0

Some info here on switching between local & roaming profiles and disabling roaming profiles altogether (scroll down to the section headed "Switching between a Roaming and Local User Profile"):

He needs to setup a local account as an admin, and copy all his files over from the domain account before changing the login / removing domain connections, otherwise you may lose access to the laptop and worst case need to reinstall.
If he has all the install discs, and backed up all the files, the cleanest thing to do is wipe and reinstall, but takes a bit more time, reinstalls are well worth it, as it'll perform quicker than before if it's been running for a few years.0
