Item is not as described, what shall I do?

First time ever I bought a rather expensive item . I didn`t mind paying a bit more as it was described in excellent condition. It just turned up today and it is far from good let alone excellent. It is a clarinet , it has lots of mouldy donts on the metaly keys and some chiped cork, and the pads are not covering some of the holes. I am soo gated as , I don`t know what to do.
Should I return it ( will I loose the postage?) I would love to return it , but I worry that I will not get the money off paypal. I am too honest and things will probably go against me.
How will I prove to paypal that it is not as described? and if I send it back will he pay for the return postage.
Please can sameone help me with this? I feel really down as my garage got boken into last nigh too and now this disaster.

First things first... contact the seller, explain all the above politely, and say you'd like to return it for a refund please.
Don't return it without sending it properly tracked - come back here if unsure! My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I just received a message from the seller that he beleived that the item was excellent condition and he does not accept returns , I haven`gt even seen that on the listing. Anyway I can`t believe that paypal would bother about not accepting returns.
He obviously new that it was not good so he does not want it back.
Did anybody have this hapen to them? How would you solve this, can you help me , please.:mad:0 -
Put in a significantly not as described, I understand he put no returns but the item still has to be what he described.
Then I understand that Paypal will then get you to return it (via trackable method) and seller will have to refund when they get it back.2 angels in heaven :A0 -
Start a "significantly not described" claim in paypal - escilate it immediately as you have already contacted the seller.
You will have to return it at your expense, so you are going to loose out on postage, but the seller will have to refund you the price + postage you initially paid.
You must return it by tracked mail (ask your post office if you are not sure) making sure that there is sufficiant insurance cover on it (Special Delivery if worth more than £39 or whatever the parcels equivalent is).
Once you have your money back, you should also carefully consider what feedback to leave as the seller will almost certainly re-list, so it's only fair to make other buyers aware.0 -
Take some photos of the damage, and send them to the seller, asking them how this is classified as being in excellent condition.
At the same time, I would also take it to a music shop to get a quote for fixing the damage (new pads etc...), then if fixing is a feasible option, ask the seller if they'd be willing to pay for the repairs.
If they're not willing to pay for repair, tell them you have no other choice but to open a SNAD dispute.
You'll have to pay the return delivery (special recorded delivery!), but the seller will have to refund your initial postage and cost of item.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0
