Vauxhall say 80k/8 years per cambelt..my bum it is. The car is 9, with 54k on it. Therefore it's early AND late for one.
its late, end off.year nine of the car has been on borrowed time.
they arent giving you the choice between mileage or age, they mean which ever comes first.
timing chains are different from belts, they do the same job as each other its just expected that a chain should never need changing in the vehicles lifetime, it seems quite common these days for chain driven systems to fail, usually a tensioner causing this. a chain system will usually cost a good bit more than a belt, due to the extra cost in parts....work permit granted!0
