Hi I am new to the site and was wondering if anyone can help. I am off to South America for 2 years in a couple of months and was wondering what is the best way for me to get access to my money without having to pay horrendous UK bank charges eveytime I withdraw cash or make a purchase? It seems every bank charges you a fortune roughly 3% everytime you use your card

Provided someone could put money in for you, or you load up before you go in the bank account, you could apply for the Nationwide cash card,Cirrus, I think it's called. It's nor Visa so no charges worldwide to draw cash. For purchases either the Abbey Zero which is being re launched on 11 May, but don't use to withdraw cash, as you will get charged interest from day one till the bill is paid,or the Post Office card.0
