M25 on Friday afternoon?

Hi everyone, I was wondering what the M25 is like on Friday afternoons is like. We will be visiting the UK and arrive at Portsmouth 3pm on Friday 22nd May. We will drive to Lincolnshire going round the M25 and then up the A1(M).
So what will the traffic be like? Spots to avoid?
Anyway if you see a French Scenic stuck in the traffic give us a wave!!

Ekkk it will be very busy i work for Britannia Rescue breakdown company and always accidents and hold ups on there causing me problems to get to our members!!

Hmmmmm best of luck to ya, its the worst section of the M25 possible. Even the extra lanes they have added don't help.
If its after lunchtime I would just double your journey time if not triple it!! Ive been stuck between the M1 and M3 junctions many times and I don't use it every week.

Add to that a bank holiday.....

Thanks for the replies I thought it would be a nightmare. Is it worth leaving the M25 at J21A and cutting up to the A1(M) via A405 and A414?

M25 is always choco block on a friday afternoon. Infact if you dont see any traffic then it means something is terribly wrong e.g. you have missed your way and could be on the wrong motorway...lol lol

OK So here we are in Lincolnshire. Thought I would report that the M25 was not as bad as expected. Anticlockwise looked horrendous but for us although it was very slow in places, near Heathrow was worst, we kept moving. Worst part of the whole journey was on the A3, tunnel building, and small roads through villages.
