OK 3 years old? that puts you somewhere around the border between old shape and new shape? which one are you looking at?

    Old shape....

    New shape... New-Kia-Carens.jpg

Very different cars. Then I can tell you more about either.

Also see you looking at Petrol.. personally I would ONLY buy diesel. old or new model.

The old model diesel was noisy but enthusiastic and averaged around 40 mpg in ours. The new model Carens has a really nice modern diesel, powerful, refined and the same engine in our Sportage which is heavy still does 42mpg. MPV's are never the best things for fuel so unless you do miniscule mileage, the pulling power of a diesel is much more suited and there are plenty around so should be little price difference - Kia often did petrol & diesels at the same price in special offers.

Kia servicing is excellent value, our Kia authorised dealer just did major service including free courtesy car and clean for £240. Minor services are a lot less. My Honda costs nearly twice as much each time.

IT is the old shape (not sure whether i like it now ) it is a diesel what i was looking at & its automatic .I only do school runs so driving for me is very local is it likely to cost me a small fortune to run ?
Just to give me an idea on diesel cost compared to the car i have now if i put £10 of diesel in the kia how many miles am i likely to get for that £10

Why are you looking to change? unless it is for more space then what other benefit would you have?
It would cost slightly more to run than your present car imo, basically fuel is approx £5 per gallon so if you say 40mpg as suggested you will get 80 miles (although school runs are not the best for economy so I would say slightly less)
