Travel insurance from Within New Zealand

I'm from the UK and working in NZ planning to go all over the world. I need to find some cheap insurance i can buy in NZ(i.e. for non-residents) that provides total sports cover.
Please help

I assume you want a Travel Policy that will repatriate you to NZ rather than the UK, a normal UK policy will repatriate you to the UK and require you to be a UK resident and / or be registered with a UK doctor.

You can buy Travel Cover through John Wason which is designed for UK Expats and will repatriate you to NZ. Bear in mind that this type of policy is not cheap though

As the previous poster said, it depends on whether you want to be repatriated back to NZ or the UK if you get sick.

If it is NZ, then why not buy a policy in NZ - assuming you are a resident there.

If not, google "one way travel insurance". There are a number of policies our there for backpackers and long trips which can start whilst you are away and repatriate you to the UK.

I have the opposite problem in that I want a one-way policy that will repatriate me to Australia.

A few I found (that covered my problem) were
    Downunder insurance
    Globelink
    Insure and Go.

Prices for my 42 day trip were about £50-£70pp.

    Hope that helps.
  • I'm not really thinking about repatrication. I want something that will cover me if I break my leg jumping off a rock or get my luggage stolen. To have the peace of mind that I can do an activity if I want to without worrying whether my insurance will cover it(since they in NZ dont seem in include a comprehensive list of activitys they dont insure). I'll look into this one-way insurance though.

Buying a "one way" single trip policy with an Insurer in the UK if you are already in NZ will not cover you. They define a "Trip" that is covered as beginning in the UK so in your situation you will not be covered by it.
  • Yes this i already know. Does anyone know cheap NZ insurance I can buy for the travelling forgieners
