Ok so I got the 2 for 1 Business flights with BA - Just under £400 for me and the boy (14) He's well chuffed that we are going business class and I'm well chuffed we get to use the lounge for free:D
I got a wee apartment to sleep 2 by Plaza Catalunya for £350 - he even gets his own (sofa)bed in the living room. Got worried that it's a scam as owner needs my address to post me the keys so I hunted him down via google and found out where he lives and works - Got to love the internet:rotfl: So if I get burgled when I'm away I can track him down like a dog - heh heh. But I do have a rental guarantee via the rental website so at least my money's safe.
Now I just have to fill the week - not normally a problem as I usually go with the BF abd we get a car and go off places but I don't drive - sigh.
I may get some tickets for Port Aventura and pop over on the train as it's only about 1.5 hours away. Do some time at the beach in Barcelonetta as I do like it there. Take boy to see some Gaudi bendy benches/big lizard at Park Guell. Go to Catalonia History museum and then????????
What else can I do with the lad - the zoo may fill half a day but it's so hot and if I remember - not a lot of shade there.
TIA for any ideas

A strol ldown the Ramblas (wide tree lined avenue, with various stalls along it), then on to the zoo.
maybe a bit young for the edge of town bull ring fights, on Sundays i think..Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

Get the Portaventura tickets before you go - it'll save a fortune.
As for Barcelona - the Nou Camp was great. Not like the stadium tours over here. Quite cheap and you can wander round in your own time.0 -
Ta for that - just remembered the aquarium as well at Maritim place.;)Noli nothis permittere te terere

Does he like football? If there is a match on whilst you are there, then try to get tickets. That is something really special. Otherwise, cable cars. there are two places, both quite close by and both start with an M Montjuic (sp?) is part of the city, easy to get there with the metro and then change to a funnicular, using the metro pass.
The Hard Rock Cafe has some nice bits for a wander round, that is right on Placa catalyunia.
I don't know whether the Christopher Columbus statute will be open, apparently you can go up it, but it was shut when I was there. (January.)0 -
What about a day out down the coast? Callella, Santa Susanna, Malgrat all easy to reach for a day at the seaside. The open top bus tour is good in Barcelona, and I would also take a trip to Camp Nou especially if you can get match tickets. There is a ticket office in the sports bar at the port end of the Ramblas. If not FC Barcelona maybe a ticket for Espanyol who play at the Olympic stadium.0

I asked him about football and tbh he doesn't really care about that - If it's not Pompey then he isn't interested :rotfl:
No need to take a day out to go to the seaside as Barcelonetta has a lovely beach and is only about 15 mins away from where we're staying, plus they have quite a few chiringuitos so we don't have to stray away for munchies and drinks. Quite funny being sat there and watching someone in full office workwear stroll down and strip down for a lunch hour in the sun.
I've beent alking to him about the trip and he's driving me mental!!! He's so blase about the whole thing - Do you want to go to the aquarium? 'Grunt'! Do you want to go to a theme park? 'Grunt!'

Maybe not a teenagers cup of tea but a day trip to Montserrat by train (from Espanya station) is good. A cable car takes you up the mountain where there is a funicular railway and spectacular walking and views.
Ciutadella park where the zoo is also has a lake with rowing boats.
The communication tower on Tibidabo has a glass lift to the top and there is a science museum there too.Tibidabo also has a funfair.0
