Hi,
We're going to Egypt in a couple of weeks and I was just wondering which currency it is best to take. When I went last year I stayed on the complex and just took £100 in Egyptian currency which I struggled to spend. This year we plan to do a bit more and I wondered what the general opinion is please as to which currency its best to take?
Many thanks for any replies.

When we were there last summer you could pay in either. I found that prices in E£ worked out cheaper than converted prices, and the waiters prefer to receive tips in their own currency. That was in Sharm and a day in Cairo.0

we are just back from egypt and dollars didnt seem to be quite so popular as they were when we went before (except in the duty free where it was cheaper to pay in dollars)
they are happy to take any currency to be honest (euros, GBP, $ etc), tho tips are best in egyptian as they have trouble changing coins.
we also found we got a better rate out there than we did buying the egyptian at home
hthWhen you know better you do better0
