There are four different types of permitted work - each with different conditions.

This page gives a brief run down on them. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/DisabledPeople/FinancialSupport/esa/DG_171909

  • Still waiting to hear from income support. I have rung everyday and am told everyday they are prioritizing my claim.
I have had no income of any sort from anyone since the 15th may .My mums feeding me and loaning me money to pay for electricity and gas.everything else has to wait.
My mental illness is being effected and my medication increased.
I am at a loss what to do.

I do understand that you're anxiuos about this but every time you phone up about it you stop someone doing their job and slow the process down. I'd leave it for a few days because you're just making yourself more upset and not helping anyone.

I called back last week, a few days later and I was issued a giro for £54.00 at the job center plus office. I was just really glad to have some money and thought i would sort things properly the next day.The next day i called up to find out when regular payments would be paid, i was told i needed to send further medical certificates (or better fax them from the job center. as it would be quicker).
I went along yesterday to fax the last payslip (which was 3 weeks late from the company i worked for) and was told they no longer fax medical certificates but email them.So I asked them to do that and they refused.i told them why i was told to do this and they still refused.
I called the office from the job center and was told there was no prove of me being told to fax these items and told me to post them.
Today i got a letter from income support to say my claim had been stopped and if i wanted further payment to start the claim again.I am handing this over to my CPN to deal with I have had enough.

Its sounds like they're really messing you around :( I hope it all gets sorted out soon. My boyfriend is in the process of applying for ESA he has a mental illness and is getting quite stressed about it. The stupidest thing so far has been after he filled out a form and told them all about how he is when he's ill and told them that when he's really ill he can barely function, he needs reminidng again and again to do simple things like eating they sent him a form asking what work he can do when he's ill!!! ummm....none obviously!
I'm feeling very thankful that I'm on incapacity benefit although I know I will eventually be moved over to ESA and they'll more than likely manage to mess that up so I'm dreading getting the letter telling me I'm going onto ESA
  • everything has been taken out of my hands, the stress got too much.
