mobility car help?

My young son recieves the lower rate of mobility DLA (disability living allowance) and highest rate of care component.
I know I can't get help via the motability scheme as he doesnt get the highest element on mobility. But is there any other help i can get, so i can get a fairly decent car (by that i mean anything that gets my son from a to b), I do work and claim tax credits, have an ok-ish credit rating, but know i wont be able to get credit on a new car, being a single mum who works part time.
i saw on the vauxhall site they do a mobility scheme that you can get if you get the lower rate, it says
'If you're registered disabled and don't qualify for Motability assistance then you will be able to take advantage of our favourable discounts and purchase almost any new Vauxhall outright.'
has anyone used this? do i have to have the money up front to buy it completly?
has anyone else got an other info on any other schemes i could use to get a car that isnt gonna break down on my way to get my son to respite
thank you in advance for any replies.

Lower rate mobility isnt about getting about, its about outdoor supervision.
Being registed disable dosnt exist anymore either but some LAs do keep a register of disabled people but its not a legal requirment.
Working part time and being a single mum with a child on low rate mobility componant, how would you pay for a new car?
Whats your sons condition and do you know his IQ? I am not being nosey but there are certain circs DLA mobility componant can be challenged.

Most car dealers will give you a 5-10% discount if you receive DLA and want a BN car....its worth asking them.
If you have a blue badge you can get your car VAT free if you require an adaption done to it.

pp you can only get a car zero rated VAT if you are a perminant wheelchair user or stretcher user and you need a perminant and substantial adaption to the vehicle and since the DLA recipient is a child on lower rate mobility the chancers of that applying are very low.
The only exception is MS like neuro conditions, HMCE are checking zero rated vehicles because of the frauds that have been widely publicised in the press and they have the right to inspect them at anytime.

Hey! Have you checked out the GM Mobility Program on Facebook? They offer financial assistance when upfitting your vehicle with eligible equipment that makes it eaiser for you to drive. Thought you might want to check it out and see if it helps you.

Hi, depending on your mota agreement you should be able to get adaptations done through the garage you got your vehicle from.0
