I've heard a rumour that Media Player 10 will generate MP3 files.
I can't find out how to do this - can someone explain? If not can someone recommend a free and easy to use MP3 generator for my Mum who is quite afraid of PCs
Thanks

depends how you want it to generate them.
If you put a CD in and 'rip' the files from CD it'll convert to MP3 (i think).0 -
It's really easy to do in Media Player 10. Put your CD in the drive, open Media Player, wait for the CD to be recognised with the track listing (if you are online, it should also retrieve the artist / track details for you). Select the 'rip' tab at the top of the window - ensure all tracks are ticked and away you go (just hit the rip button if it doesn't start automatically). Your new MP3's will be stored in your 'My Music' folder within 'My Documents (I think, from memory (writing this at work)).0

Dont forget by default Media Player 10 is set to the WMA Format.
If you wish to change that to rip to MP3 you must do this...
Open Media Player, Tools, Options, Rip Music (tab) then Drop Down Rip Settings
select MP3 then set a quality of 192kbps then click OK.
WMP 9 will not rip MP3

Make sure in your options you have MP3 selected as file output type (plus your compression ratio choice). I ripped a load and they were the wrong format. Delete and start again!!Lady Astor: "Winston, if I were your wife I'd put poison in your coffee."
