Cheshire BS 3 yr fixed bond: check the small print!

I went in today to open a Cheshire Building Society 3yr fixed rate bond in trust for my godson. Unfortunayely, the annual (or monthly) interest cannot be compounded and has to be paid to either another Cheshire account or an external account and cannot be credited back to the bond.
So I'm off to the Derbyshire tomorrow to open a similar product, where the interest can be compounded!
Both part of the Nationwide 'happy' (LOL) family, but operate very much as their own divisions.
