I'm realy stuck on this one. Done extensive research on the WEB, tried several atispyware programs, but still IE and Internet Options (in Control Panel) blocked. The PC is a Dell Latitude D610, it does have Security Platform installed, also SUPER Antispyware, but neither of these seem to have an option to block IE or Internet Options. IE opens goes to home page and shuts down. No warning message. Its a home PC so no AD access or permissions set.
Any ideas?
PS. Another think I noticed just, Avira says it need updating, but it's been updated....

Have you tried running malwarebytes? It seems to be one of the best free on demand scanners around. Would you consider upgrading to IE8? I know some people have had problems with it, but it seems to work ok on most computers. Try updating malwarebytes and running a full scan first, and see what that brings up.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

have you looked in gpedit.msc under computer config > admin templates > internet explorer to see if its been disabled in there?0
-
Malwarebytes was the last thing I tried actually that along with Avira and superantispyware picked up around 20 or so trojans and worms.
The system has been cleaned thoroughly (no more malware) and Windows system files have been restored. But something on here is blocking IE and Internet options from starting....... And as I said it's a Windows Home, so no active directory or users and group policies. To travel at the speed of light, one must first become light.....0
-
is it just for one user or all local users?
have you tried launching IE via start > run > iexplore.exe?
are there any add-ons installed preventing it from launching?0
-
yes , go to Start , then Accessories , then system tools , then try running it with No Add onsEx forum ambassador

Uninstalled IE7 manually, then installed IE8, Fixed.
It wouldn't even start with no add ons, installation must have been corrupt.
Everything is back to normal now, thanks. To travel at the speed of light, one must first become light.....0
