D&A are by far the worst opticians ever. I will never set foot in another D&A ever. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I noticed my local Specsavers have a poster up saying £20 off their glasses if you bring in a prescription from another optician. This is in Scotland so had an idea of going to D&A for test and then Specsavers for glasses but I don't want any hassle (or charge) for getting my prescription from D&A.
Why would you do that? The eye test is free @ any optician in Scotland for anyone who has not had a test within the last 2 years

Opticians are well within their right to charge for duplicate prescriptions. However were you not given an original copy? by law you have to be given one. 27.50 is a lot for a copy me thinks... we charge 5 pounds.0

I work in the finance office of a company who reimburse employees for eye examinations, and make a contribution towards glasses if required for VDU work. This requires the employee getting the optician to tick a couple of boxes and provide a signature on a standard form.
We have recently been informed that D&A have started to impose a £12 charge for completing the form. In our office's experience to date, no other optician has introduced such a charge.
Looks like charging for copies of prescriptions is not the only additional charge D&A have begun to impose recently. (EDIT - sorry, only just noticed this is actually the resurrection of an old thread)0
