Avira new version?

Am getting prompts from Avira HQ to install version 9.0.0.394...

http://download.cnet.com/Avira-AntiVir-Personal-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10322935.html?part=dl-10322935&subj=dl&!!!!!button&cdlPid=11012914

This is puzzling me. Do I take it as read that my currently installed version is in some way out of date, although I keep receiving standard updates for it almost on a daily basis?

Do I need to uninstall my current version?

What is going on here, does anyone know?

  • They're released v9 so now's the time to go with the flow and close your eyes! Nice and easy install, download it, run it, it'll uninstall your current version, install the new one, reboot, update, and bam, you're flying high!

You'll be getting daily definitions updates to keep the virus definitions database current, but this is an update for the actual program itself.
