Hi I'd like to find a reliable download site so I can convert some m4p music files from itunes to go onto my daughters Sony Walkman as it won't recognise this format.

What sites are good, I've googled it but I'm not sure about the sites that come up.

Thanks

As far as I know, Sony Walkman's won't play files bought from iTunes (before they went DRM-free). While not preferable, you can burn them to CD and re-rip them but you may notice a loss in quality.

There is probably a software solution out there but I'm not sure the forum permits discussion about stripping the DRM from the M4P (protected AAC) files since it touches on copyright issues. Sorry.

Are you talking about purchased music, or music you've ripped yourself from a CD?

You could try using iTunes itself to convert to MP3 if there is no DRM on the files:
in iTunes, go to the Edit menu ans select PReferences; click on the 'Import Settings' button next to "When you insert a CD" and change 'Import Using' to MP3 and the 'Setting' to whatever quality setting you want from the pulldown menu.
Click on OK, then OK again, then right-click on the track you want to convert and select 'Create MP3 Version'.
You'll find the MP3 versions in your iTunes library and you should be able to copy them out to wherever you like on your computer, ready for moving onto your Sony - though, again, if the tracks you want to convert are DRM'ed, this won't work and you'll have to go down the writing to CD and ripping method described by randomtask above.
