Companies updating credit reports

How often are companies supposed to update your credit file? I have noticed on my report that the last date was 2006 for a couple companies. I thought they reported to credit reference agencies on a regular basis. Can the customer officially request that they update it?

Are you sure these accounts aren't "settled" i.e. closed?
Check the "settled date" column.
If there is a date in it then they won't be regularly updated but will be kept on your record for 6 years after being closed.0 -
