I am in serious trouble with credit cards

Deep breath and here goes, I have been ill for a while now, and not working. I have 2 big debts for credit cards with Mbna and Citi bank and while i have been intouch with them, sending them earning outgoings, copies of carers and attendance allowence the lot. Today i my son had to sign for 2 seperate letters,
1, from 1st credit finance ltd statutory demand section 268(1) for £3,649.00 (citi)
2, from link financial ltd for £5,954.00 (mbna)
I am really frightned and i don't know what to do, is there any advice.

Welcome to MSE, as a lot of people on here wil advise you, can you put your SOA on so we can help you www.makesenseofcards.com you will ned your APR's and all your income/outgoings. Also try contacting CCCS or one of the other debt charities. You've taken the first step, which is usually the hardest. Are you in touch with any of the debt charities?
Do you own/mortgage your house?
Can you tell us when 1st credit sent the SD? They are under OFT requirements at the moement for sending these out without proper reason.
Are you sayign you have an SD from Link?If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
am not intouch with no charities, and yes i have a mortgage on my home, what is a S D, sorry if its a stupid question but i dont know what it is.0

Welcome Claire. I know it's easier said than done, but try not to panic. We're all in similar boats on these boards and someone somewhere will be along to help you out. No debt is unsolvable.
Try and answer RAS's other questions as he/she is very knowledgeable, kind and patient.
Also, do get in touch with CAB or national debtline - talking it through with them will make you feel hugely better and be a real weight off your mind.0 -

You're welcome, please try to get your Statement of Affairs on here, and I promise you that you will get the best help off some very friendly people, who wont judge you, but they will certainly support you. As the OP has said we ahve all been in the same boat, and it's the reason we are here now, to get out of debt and try to help others out too, please take RAS's advice, and you'll soon be on your debtfree journey.
