section 75 for a large purchase (car)

in Credit cards
I am worried about firms going bust as I am going to purchase a car and leave a substantial deposit (£8000). If I pay a portion of that deposit, say, £500 by credit card (swallowing the 3% credit card charge of £15 myself) then paying the rest by debit card (£7500 but no % charge) would I still be covered under section 75 for the whole £8000? Obviously with a build time of possibly 8 weeks a lot could happen in that time!
I have ensured that I will be paying the dealership directly and not an "agent or broker who buys from the dealership"
Am I reading section 75 wrong? I thought I was covered for the whole sum even if I put a deposit down but surely the credit card companies would be wise to me putting a token gesture amount on a credit card then a large amount from my bank account? Is there a minimum % you need to put on your credit card to be eligible?

I concur, yes you would. A deposit is all that is needed to qualify for s75. It also works for plane tickets/holidays etc.... pay deposit with CC and rest on debit to save the 3% CC Fee charged.
