I have a programme that I have recorded on DVD that I would like to use in a presentation. I only need a few segments of it though and would like to edit these parts to show during the presentation without fast forwarding through the disc.
Can any moneysavers recommend some easy to use software (preferably free) to do edit the dvd on a machine running windows XP please?

            Hi
You need to import the file into some type of editing program on your computer, edit it, then rewrite it to a DVD.0

Oh sorry just saw the bit in red, my brain is trained to ignore bright coloured text.
Will MovieMaker not do this for you?0

i would suggest doing a quick google search for freeware/shareware dvd/movie editors.
if this doesnt work try download.com as this holds a catalogue of softwre both free and retailTrainee Advisor working in s!!!!horpe, UK. I will help if I can but NEVER take what I say as gospel (where possible I will provide links to relevant sources of information) becuase I have been known, on occasion, to be wrong0

windows movie maker will do it..... check you have the latest version installed ie 2.1
if not do a search on google and download it..
the only other thing that comes to mind..... do you not have to get permission to use an excerpt from someone else program?smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... :cool:0 :cool:0

If the DVD is encrypted you will need to rip it to your computer first using something like DVD Decrypter (http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/). Once it is ripped the easiest way to edit it is to convert it to AVI using something like DVD2AVI (http://www.digital-digest.com/software/dvd2avi_images.html#tabs).
Once it is converted you could use something like Nandub (http://ndub.sourceforge.net/) to select just the bits you want to use for your presentation.
For more details on the software and in depth guides have a look at Video Help (http://www.videohelp.com/).0
