I booked the wrong return date on my BA Flight

Hi,

I know I know, it's a STUPID thing to do... I was looking at the flight number and not the date...

I'm flying to Berlin on Friday, coming back Sunday (this weekend), but I made a mistake and have booked to fly back on July 12th - that's a long time to spend in Berlin!

BA now want £320 to change the return flight, or will refund the taxes from my original flight (total flight cost £150, not sure how much taxes were), minus a £15 fee.

It will cost me another £240 to get back from Berlin on Sunday now

Is there anything I can do to get my money back/change my flights?
Will I be able to claim this back on my travel insurance?

Any ideas are welcome.

Thanks,

EK.

    BA aren't persuadeable I presume.

Perhaps just book a one way BER-LON on easyJet or Ryanair.
Do you have any tesco vouchers? BA Miles or Lufthansa miles?

They aren't being very forthcoming. Do you know of any interesting persuasion tactics!?

Unfortunately at this late stage it's still going to be £170-£200 to get a single back from Berlin. For 2 legs of the flights I originally booked it was going to be £150.

Some airlines can be Ok if you call and explain the error fairly quickly after booking, usually within 24 hours.
BA have many people at their call centre, some more friendly than others, if you get an unhelpful one it is often better to just end the call and call again hoping to get a better one.

BTW there is a bus from EMA to East Midlands Airport Parkway railway station where there are direct trains to London St Pancras.

This once happened to me, on a Swiss flight, but I noticed as soon as got the confirmation email.
I called them right away and they changed it for me, no charge :)

Yes BA wil make changes free of charge withing the first 24 hours but you may have to pay if changing where you are flying to or when etc if the flight price is more. After 24 hours youy can change on line or by phone, online I think is £15.00 and £30.00 per person over the phone. If it helps I dealt with a lovely lady at the call centre here in Newcastle called Fran, very helpful lady, might be worth calling her?

    thanks all, much appreciated.
Unfortunately the flight to EMA doesn't get there until very late, which is a shame. Looks like I'm going to have to stump up silly money, BA won't let me change it FOC.

    Never mind!

    Hi,

Well I suggest you book a single with easyjet ... berlin to gatwick is 200 euros at the mo ... seems cheaper than going back with BA.
